Susana Ferreira

Susana Ferreira is graduated in Biochemistry, with a master in the same field, and had received a PhD in Biomedicine from the Universidade da Beira Interior in 2014. Since December 2018, she is an Assistant Researcher at CICS-UBI and since September 2022 is an Invited Assistant Professor at Faculty of Sciences of University of Beira Interior (Covilhã, Portugal). Susana's research interests encompass gastrointestinal pathogens, particularly focusing on Arcobacter, where her team leads research efforts in Portugal. They emphasize understanding the distribution, pathogenesis, and resistance mechanisms of Arcobacter butzleri. Additionally, Susana is engaged in evaluating the antimicrobial activity of natural and synthetic compounds against bacteria and yeasts, investigating their mechanisms of action to advance antimicrobial research.
